Belize Cave Tubing

Belize Cave TubingThe Belize Caves Branch River System features over 7 miles of underground spectacular “River and Caves” perfect for the now famous cave tubing float. No other Caribbean destination combines the thrill of floating down a river through a spectacular cave system, the mystery of the ancient Maya, the richness of a living rainforest, and a wonderland of adventure.

You will float past side windows that filter the jungle light through the mist as you swirl around stalagmites jutting from the river and stalactites looming from above. Float past underground waterfalls then into the crystal cathedral, a spiritual center to the ancient Maya.

Cave tubing was introduced to Belize tourism, by Ian Anderson and has become Belize's most popular adventure trip. Some underground hiking and jungle trekking is necessary so you should be in acceptable physical shape to do this tour. The walk to the beginning of the first Cave Entrance is an easy 30 to 40 minute stroll through the beautiful Belizean Rainforest. You will walk through two dry caves carrying your provided equipment, along the way you will see many stalagmites and stalactites. Once you reached the access point area you will be able to enter the crystal clear, refreshing river and enter the first cave.

Belize Cave System

You can experience this exciting cave tubing adventure by staying in the area for a few nights at the Caves Branch Jungle Lodge or you can also do it on a day trip from almost any resort location in Belize including Belize City , Cayo, Ambergris Caye or Placencia. The Jungle Canopy, Zip Line tour can also be combined with the Cave Tubing adventure since both tours are in the same location on the Caves Branch River. The Black Hole Drop is also done near the same area however this spectacular adventure requires a full day with hiking activities and is done separately. If you would like to experience all three tours during your stay in the jungle we suggest a package for a few nights at Caves Branch Jungle Lodge.

Double cables each capable of withstanding 2,000 pounds of weight are used for the ultimate safety. The Platforms are as high as 85ft into the Canopy and as far apart as 250ft!  You will feel at one with nature on this exciting Zip Line Canopy Tour.

Zip Line
Belize is world famous for the lush tropical rainforest, nature diversity, majestic trees and outstanding wildlife. This tour is by far one of the best methods to view it all at a canopy level.

*The Black Hole Drop*

The “Mother of all Caves” .. Actun Loch Tunich !  This spectacular adventure starts off with a vigorous hike into the foothills of the Maya Mountains.  The edge of the Actun Loch Tunich sink hole sits over 300 feet above the basin below, 200 feet above the rainforest canopy that grows out from the sink hole basin.

The Black Hole DropBlack Hole

You will hike up to the top of the sink hole where your caving guides will then rig a system of rappelling ropes for your decent to the basin below. The first 10 feet provides the adrenaline, the next 200 feet provides an unforgettable experience and sights to behold, the last 100 feet takes you down through the rainforest canopy. Actun Loch Tunich sink hole is not actually black but since you can't see the bottom from the start, this definitely adds an additional element of excitement.

There is the Actun Loch Tunich river cave .. but no cave tubing..!  This expedition is not for the faint of heart and all participants must be relatively fit. This incredible adventure is available through Caves Branch Jungle Lodge or few selected jungle lodges in the Cayo area.
